July 31: Construction activities are continuing to ramp up for the Cedar Cove River Project.

· Site Walk – Stantec and the Coalition met with the Contractor to walk the project area on Friday and clarify several items ahead of the start of construction. A couple of notes coming out of the site walk: o The Contractor has staked the project area, according to the design plans. If the staking looks a little bit off from what you were expecting, please note that the stakes are offset approximately 5 feet wider than the proposed grading extents. July 24: Cedar Cove Construction Updates

The Big Thompson Watershed Coalition is very happy to say that the project team is gearing up to start construction of the Cedar Cove river improvements later this month. Project Overview The river project is funded through federal and state funds (Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB), and Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) CDBG-DR funds) that the Coalition secured. The project was designed by the Coalition’s project consultant, Stantec, and includes the input of the private property owners obtained through the public meetings that were a key part of the design process in 2016. July 17th Monitoring Update

The river improvement project at Jasper Lake was sponsored by the Coalition and recently completed in May 2017. With the higher than normal spring run-off flows over the past month or so, the Coalition and the design team for this project have been conducting regular monitoring to determine how the project improvements are holding up. Summary of monitoring efforts post-construction include: • Stantec (design team) has been on site walking the entire project length at least once a week since construction ended, more frequently when the gages indicate significant discharge.
